Different Methods Of Funeral Transport

A funeral is the ultimate celebration of a loved one's life, a highly customisable event that appeals to their likes, interests and personality. One of the things you’ll need to consider is transport, both for the coffin and for friends and families. This transport usually takes the deceased between a wake, church and graveyard depending on what choices you are making in terms of the funeral.

But there are plenty of options available and in this blog, we go through some of the most common and some of the more unusual.

Car Hearse

Probably the most common method of transporting a vehicle to a funeral is a vehicle hearse. This is a large vehicle that is typically specially designed to carry the body of the deceased. They are custom vehicles, usually keeping the front end of a powerful car chassis but with custom bodywork to the rear to contain the coffin securely.

Horse-Drawn Hearse

This is the classic method of transporting a body. Hearses were originally just specially designed horse carriages pulled by horses and were the only option for hundreds of years before the introduction of motorised vehicles. A lot of people still prefer this classic option and the quiet dignity that a horse-drawn hearse brings.

There is plenty of personalisation available with this option, with the colour of the horses, decoration on the hearse and the ribbons changeable to suit the preferences of the deceased or their loved ones.

Motorcycle Hearse

This is a unique option that is popular with those who were a biker or simply loved motorcycles/were a bit eccentric. It is a custom option where a motorbike will be driven with the coffin in the sidecar.
